Fibro-osseous lesion: Periapical cemental dysplasia: A case report

چکیده
Fibro-osseous lesions compose woven or immature bone formed by benign proliferation of spindle cells. Based on radiographic and histologic features, these lesions are grouped into many specifi c entities.[1] The overlapping histological and confusing nomenclature can be simplifi ed by their radiographic presentation. They are clearly defi ned by their pattern in plain radiograph or in computed tomography (CT) scans. Fibroosseous lesions are classifi ed as follows, a. Fibrous dysplasia b. Osseous dysplasia c. Ossifying fi broma (OF).[1] Here we report a case of fi bro-osseous lesion which was diagnosed after thorough clinical evaluation and imaging.

[Peculiar cemental lesion of the jaws--its pathological entity and natural history].
Two hundred fifty-five solitary and 42 multiple cases of fibro-osseous lesions of the jaws, and 74 cases of sclerosing osteomyelitis were studied clinico-pathologically, in order to discuss the entity of peculiar cemental lesion with sequester-like appearance, which occurs mainly in the mandibular molar area of over middle-aged females. Four allied lesions, including the sequester-like cemental...
متن کاملDifferentiating early stage florid osseous dysplasia from periapical endodontic lesions: a radiological-based diagnostic algorithm
BACKGROUND Osseous dysplasia (OD) is the most common fibro-osseous lesion of the jaw affecting the periapical region. Early stages of OD can resemble periapical radiolucencies, thus mimicking the radiological aspects of an endodontic pathology. Such radiolucent lesions affecting previously decayed or treated teeth are even more complex to interpret. CASE PRESENTATION The aim of this paper is ...
متن کاملLesions related to the formation of bone, cartilage or cementum arising in the oral area: a statistical study and review of the literature.
This report contains a statistical review of 559 cases of lesions forming hard tissues that were diagnosed by the departments of Clinical Pathophysiology and of Pathology at Tokyo Dental College from 1966 to 2001. Sixteen kinds of lesions which were related to the formation of bone, cartilage or cementum were analysed: osteoma, osteo-chondroma, chondroma, osteoid osteoma, osteoblastoma, ossifyi...

Central ossifying fibroma is a rare, benign fibro-osseous lesion that arises from the periodontal ligament. Periapical cemento-osseous dysplasia is another variant of fibro-osseous lesion which occurs in the anterior region of the mandible of females. Odontoma is a benign odontogenic tumor that contains enamel, dentine cement and pulp tissue. A 46-year-old woman was referred to the Department o...
متن کاملFlorid cemento-osseous dysplasia: Report of a case documented with clinical, radiographic, biochemical and histological findings
Florid cemento-osseous dysplasia (FCOD) has been described as a condition that characteristically affects the jaws of middle-aged black women. This condition has also been classified as gigantiform cementoma, chronic sclerosing osteomyelitis, sclerosing osteitis, multiple estenosis and sclerotic cemental masses. It usually exhibits as multiple radiopaque cementum-like masses distributed through...
